Did you ever wanted more details on you wifi connection? You may get some more information by pressing [alt] when selecting the airport icon on the menu bar.
In addition to the standard information you'll get: MAC address, channel, RSSI (signal strength) and connection speed (Transmit Rate). The signal strength indicator is only valid for each wifi network card, that is, it is only meaningful compared with itself.
